“CATALUNYA” PRIZES FOR

CHORAL COMPOSITIONS
2008

Introduction

Promoting the creativity in Catalan Choir Music has always been one of the priorities of the choirs in our country.  The success of the three first editions of these prizes, held on 1996, 2002 and 2006, has encouraged the Federation to launch a new edition in 2008.

The main goals of these prizes are:

  1. To promote the creation of new choral compositions based on poems or literary texts written in the Catalan language.
  2. To encourage new harmonizations of the wide repertory of traditional Catalan Countries music.
  3. To enrich and bring up to date our Choirs’ repertory by means of new or updated compositions.
  4. To spread internationally the Catalan literature that has been turned into music, and show the richness of our traditional music.
